A moment where the the community came together from for a long-held dream becoming reality. Since the earliest days of our movement in Oregon, gaining the capacity for mass communication with our community base has endured among our highest goals. In the Latino immigrant community, mass communications means radio. Now, with the help of hundreds of supporters and community members, attaining that capacity is at hand! If things go according to plan, our own radio station will be broadcast-ready on August 20th. 2006
We’ve long depended on flyering, postering, paid ads on commercial Spanish-language radio and cable televsion, community forums, mailings, phone banking, house visits, the readerboard at our
headquarters, and word of mouth to inform the community about actions, events, campaigns, issues and developments. Though a quarter-century plus of organizing and service work has built a broad
community base centered in Woodburn, even our more concerted communication efforts leave us out of touch at any given time with most of that base
